Every one of her books I have read are superlative. I never tire of her building a story. I never tire of the quaint language of her era. I think that these books come from the kinder gentler time that the first President Bush spoke of. This time was marred by another horrible world war but even during that time her heroines and hero's are kind, good people learning how to move into new times and new more modern ways of doing things.. Sometimes reluctantly but doing so eventually and happy they did in the end. I highly recommend this author and all of her books. I am hoping there are more that I simply didn't know were I out there because it is like taking a tranquilizer when my life becomes more than I can take only so much better if I take the time to sit down and read one of her books.Product details

Must have been one of her early works. Not very realistic even for the time it was written. I like older books, they are clean and the bygone ways of life interest me. Usually I choose mysteries but Keyes has written some truly great novels. A lot of research has gone into them-------this was not one of them.
loved the story line ~ a page turner ~ oh ! what a beginning ~ middle ~ and end ~ must read ~ NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY THE COVER
Frances Parkinson Keyes is gone but her books live on with characters that are authentic, believable and interesting. I recently read River Road set in Louisiana during the years of sugar cane production after the 1st world war. She made sure your reading wasn't just a story of the people but an education as well.
I liked Frances Parkinson Keyes writing when I was a teenager in the 60's and remember reading everything the local library had. I thought this read was interesting from a historical perspective to see where we've come from in regards to America and its sexual mores; the writer, who was a Senator's wife writing in the 1940's primarily, had a virginal outlook on sex. The writer is very moralistic. This is a love story. The main character in this book we would today call a real ice cube. The central male character would move on.
I love Frances Parkinson Keyes. I read her books many years ago. Good sweet stories and a little old fashioned. I just wish more of her books were available electronically. I highly recommended this book but also her other books.
This is a wonderful Christian story. It definitely proves that wonderful stories can be told without sex and violence. The story was wonderful and it was a page-turner. I really enjoyed it.
I loved the characters, I loved the family and farm setting. I loved the writing with it's clear of the English language. Although one might find it hard to believe that a millionaires would drop in for a short visit to recover from her New York City life with a family with 8 children on a farm deteriorating from it's hundred year old creation. The author draws out the similarities in our humanist characteristics, whether it be our love or mistakes opt accomplishments.
I recommend this book.
Francis Parkenson Keyes lived from 1885-1970. I looked it up. I think I have read another of her books which sticks in memory also. I love her written word. You have to read it to truly appreciate it.
